Biography

Anna Mayne is a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She freelances throughout the tri-state area and has played with the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Lake Forest Symphony, New Philharmonic Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, Marin Symphony, El Paso Symphony, El Paso Opera, Southwest Symphony (NM), Chicago Arts Orchestra, Oistrach Orchestra, and pit orchestras for several musicals in the Chicagoland area. She is Instructor of Horn at Northeastern Illinois University where she also enjoys teaching Brass Methods and Music Appreciation. She is on faculty at Elmhurst College and Harper College, and maintains private horn studios in La Grange, Northbrook, and Arlington Heights.
An avid chamber musician, she has been a member of the CINCO Brass Quintet since1998. As a member of CINCO, Ms. Mayne was a semi-finalist at the Carmel, Coleman, and Fischoff National Chamber Music Competitions. In 2003, CINCO was invited to be the first ensemble to take part in the Chicago Chamber Musicians (CCM) Professional Development Program partnering CINCO with members of CCM on several subscription concerts and live radio broadcasts on WFMT (98.7). CINCO has performed all over Chicago, most notably on the main stage at Millennium Park, the Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier, the Rush Hour Concert Series, and the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center. Ms. Mayne has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Northwestern University, a Master’s Degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. Ms. Mayne’s principal teachers include William Barnewitz, Dale Clevenger, Robert Ward, and Gail Williams. She received fellowships to attend the Colorado College Summer Chamber Music Festival, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. Her playing has been described as “beautiful” (South Bend Tribune) and “impressive”(Marin Independent Journal). She can be heard on several recording labels, including the Arsis label and most notably on Albany Records with the Houston Grand Opera and the New Black Music Repertory Ensemble.
